We are currently seeking a Lead Technician.  This is a remote position and will not be located in Rochester, NY. The candidate will work independently from their home base and will primarily service customers in the Ithaca, Corning, and Elmira area(s). Qualified candidates must have experience in installation and maintenance of security, video surveillance, card access, and fire alarm systems. Additionally, he/she must be a self-starter, be able to work independently, extremely responsible, and an excellent communicator.  He/she should have factory training in a major access control system, such as Lenel or Honeywell Access.  Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate quality workmanship, the ability to create work plans, and possess the skills that facilitate team success.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Travel to various customer locations throughout the southern tier; occasionally will need to travel to main office in Rochester, NY for mandatory meetings.
  • Install and service intrusion, access control, video and fire system panels and devices; perform updates and upgrades when needed.
  • Execute customer proposals through installation and on-going maintenance; effectively communicate project status to project managers and customers.
  • Interpret scopes of work and blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Demonstrate and train customer’s IT personnel on systems and programs.
  • Terminate security alarm devices and cameras.
  • Exhibit professional appearance and conduct.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience performing installation duties in commercial security or related industry.
  • Technical degree in electronics or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Must have a technical aptitude and be computer literate.
  • Experience reading blueprints.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
  • Network and OSHA certification a plus.
  • Must be able to push/pull, lift and carry up to 100 lbs.

Work Environment

This job will work primarily in the field servicing equipment at customer locations.  Exposure to extreme heat/cold/humid conditions and loud noise is possible. Work areas range from small confined spaces to high, precarious spaces.  Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical currents is also possible.

We are currently seeking qualified applicants for Technician roles to service customers throughout Western New York. Qualified candidates must have experience assisting in the installation, maintenance, or repair of fire alarm and security systems including card access and video surveillance. Additionally, he/she must be a self-starter, be able to work independently, extremely responsible, and an excellent communicator.  He/she will work very closely with Lead Technicians.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Travel to various customer locations throughout upstate and western New York.
  • Install cable, conduit or other field devices to maintain, repair or replace security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and solve problems and failures.
  • Mount and fasten control panels, card readers, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras and attached electrical, telephone and network wiring to connect components.
  • Interpret scopes of work and blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans and installation manuals to determine material requirements and installation procedures.
  • Communicate with Lead Technicians and Project Manager/Supervisor with job status details, problems, potential issues and all other necessary information.
  • Exhibit professional appearance and conduct.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in the security services industry is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months of relevant work experience is required.
  • Experience with fire systems or low-voltage electronics is a plus.
  • Experience reading blueprints.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
  • Network and OSHA certification a plus.

Business Systems Analyst

Business Systems Analyst

Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and administering various business systems. The primary responsibility will be to lead and complete the implementation of a PSA business management system. This role contributes to the analysis and improvement of TSG’s works-flows, systems, and processes to ensure a smooth, efficient, and lean operation.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Complete the implementation of the ConnectWise PSA business management system.
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of other applications required to support business operations.
  • Design, prepare and maintain reports as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business processes and process documentation.
  • Maintain various databases including pricing.
  • Provide and maintain tools to help department managers analyze performance.
  • Provide training as needed to system users and stakeholders.
  • Develop and document new systems and/or processes to improve customer satisfaction increasing speed, efficiency, responsiveness, and communication throughout the organization but with a focus on customer interfacing activities.
  • Align processes and systems to support the company’s vision and core values.
  • Troubleshoot systems/processes to determine causes or system failures and to recommend/implement solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with department managers and system users to design and implement new systems and troubleshoot problems with existing system/processes.
  • Manage and check the status of systems/processes.
  • Provide information required in the preparation of annual budget figures including needs for upgrading hardware, software, training, and other resources needed for the development and implementation of new company systems.
  • Oversee electronic communications from PSA system to Quickbooks accounting system.
  • Audit and perform reconciliations between systems.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting, Business Administration, Management Information Systems or related business discipline.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Proficient with Quickbooks accounting software
  • Competence with business analysis techniques such as process flows

This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and calculators.

Special Requirement:

Technical Systems Group, Inc. is a licensed security company in NYS which requires a security background check with fingerprints. The person working in this position must be able to pass this form of security clearance to work here.
